Admissions to Ph.D. programs at DBS Global University campus are held twice a year, for the January and July sessions. The Ph.D. program is available in two formats: Full-time and Part-time, with no distance learning option. Regular participation in coursework, various interactions, and submission of progress reports through presentations is mandatory.
A Full-time Ph.D. scholar dedicates his/her full time to the program requirements, while a Part-time Ph.D. scholar balances their research with employment responsibilities. The minimum duration for a Full-time Ph.D. is three years, and for a Part-time Ph.D., it is Four years. The maximum duration for both formats is six years.
Part-time candidates must ensure their workplace provides the necessary facilities and infrastructure conducive to research. Additionally, they are required to have a Co-guide from their organization, subject to approval by the university authorities.
DBS Global University promotes interdisciplinary research and the exchange of ideas across various fields. Scholars may appoint a Co-guide from outside DBS Global University in accordance with university rules and due approvals. The primary Guide for the scholar will be a DBS Global University faculty member, selected based on the research topic and availability. Full-time Ph.D. candidates also have the opportunity to work as research fellows on prestigious ongoing research projects at the university.

Applications for Ph.D. programs at DBS Global University are accepted twice a year: January and July sessions.
Admission is available for both Full-time and Part-time Ph.D. programs.
Applications must be submitted online only, along with required documents and an online payment of Rs 750/- via Credit/Debit card.
A single form applies to one program only and is valid for one session.
Transfers from other campuses are permitted once the application is submitted to DBS Global University and after the confirmation of seat availability, NoC is obtained from the parent university (from where the transfer is sought).

Master’s Degree in relevant field from any accredited Indian or Foreign University with a minimum of 55% marks or grade point average.
OR
Four years Bachelor's degree with minimum 75% / 8 CGPA is eligible to directly apply for Ph.D programs.

No Guarantee of Admission: Submission of the application form does not guarantee a selection procedure date or admission. Forms may be rejected for document deficiencies, not following procedures, or other valid reasons.

The registration date for Ph.D. candidates will correspond to the actual registration date for the respective July and January batches.
Full-Time Candidates: The minimum residency period in the Department/Constituent unit is typically three years.
Part-Time Candidates: There is no residency period, but attendance in Ph.D. coursework and other academic activities is mandatory as scheduled.
Full Attendance: Ph.D. scholars (both Full-Time and Part-Time) are expected to maintain full attendance (100%) in each course.
Minimum Attendance: A minimum of 75% attendance in each course is required to be eligible for end-semester examinations
Promotion Requirement: Full-Time Ph.D. scholars must achieve at least 75% attendance out of the total working days each semester to avoid an "Unsatisfactory" Semester Progress Report.

Guidelines
Candidates who successfully complete their Ph.D. coursework with a minimum CGPA of 7.5 will be considered for appointment as Teaching Associates or Research Associates. These positions will involve a balanced engagement in teaching, research, and limited administrative responsibilities, contributing to the academic ecosystem of the university.
Selected candidates will receive a fellowship of INR 40, 000 per month.
This document outlines the guidelines for the appointment and role of Research Assistants (RAs) at DBS Global University. The RAs will contribute to teaching and research projects while enhancing their academic growth under the mentorship of faculty members. The guidelines align with UGC norms and the standards followed by other premier institutions in India.
Educational Qualification : The candidate should hold a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
Research Aptitude: The candidate must have demonstrated interest in academic research through prior work, publications, or dissertations.
Application Process: The candidate must submit a completed application form, along with self-attested copies of educational credentials, and a statement of purpose (SOP) outlining their research interests.
Fellowship: elected Research Assistants will receive a fellowship INR 40, 000 per month in the second year
This amounts to an average of INR 40, 000 per month over the three-year Research Assistantship period. The fellowship is subject to satisfactory research progress and academic engagement of at least 12 hours per week.
The appointment will be for the position of Research Assistant and subject to review after every year based on research progress and performance.
Research performance will be reviewed biannually, with reports from the supervisor and academic evaluation. Continuation of the fellowship will depend on meeting the timeline of research deliverables and satisfactory completion of assigned tasks.
Research Assistants must complete any assigned coursework and maintain academic performance, achieving a minimum score of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.
RAs are required to publish at least two research papers in SCI/Scopus/Web of Science/UGC Care/ABDC indexed journals within the contract period, particularly in the first two years after completion of coursework
The Research Assistants will conduct research (PhD) on topics provided and approved by the Centre of Excellence (DGU) in their respective domains.
Working Hours - University offers flexible working expecting a minimum of 40 hrs spread over 6 days a week as per the University policy.
RAs must mark their attendance in the university's biometric system as per the norms set for fulltime scholars. Attendance will be closely monitored, and absences without prior approval from the supervisor may lead to the discontinuation of the fellowship.
Only Casual Leaves and Academic Leaves will be applicable to Research Assistants. For more details refer to University’s Leave Policy. All leaves need to be pre- sanctioned by the Supervisor and Dean Research. All holidays defined in the university’s holiday calendar can be availed in addition to leaves stated above. Any off-campus engagements related to research will require prior approval, and a formal leave of absence will be granted based on the supervisor's recommendation.
Assisting faculty members in their research projects, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.
Actively participating in workshops, seminars, and academic conferences organized by the university.
Contributing to the research community by engaging in discussions, sharing knowledge, and collaborating with other researchers and departments.
Supervisors will provide biannual feedback on the Research Assistant's work, which will be used to determine the continuation or renewal of the appointment.
A formal assessment will be conducted at the end of the term to evaluate the RA’s contribution to research and their progress in academic development.
The Research Assistant fails to achieve the minimum academic engagement of 6.5/10.
The RA does not meet the publication requirements within the stipulated period.
The RA fails to adhere to attendance requirements.
Any form of misconduct, violation of university regulations, or unethical research practices are reported.
In the event that a Research Assistant (RA) seeks to withdraw from the PhD program or resign from the Research Assistantship, the following conditions will apply to protect the interests of DBS Global University:
Prior Notice: The RA must submit a formal written request for withdrawal or resignation at least two months in advance, along with a detailed explanation of the reasons for the decision.
Approval Process: The request will be subject to approval by the Dean Research and the respective research supervisor. The university reserves the right to deny or defer the resignation if the candidate’s ongoing research, funded projects, or academic responsibilities are critical.
The RA will be required to refund any fellowship amounts disbursed during the preceding two months if their resignation is deemed detrimental to ongoing research projects.
Additionally, any costs incurred for academic training, conference participation, or other resources provided to the RA may be recovered as determined by the university.
The RA must provide a comprehensive progress report and submit any data, drafts, or research materials developed during their tenure at the university.
In cases involving severe medical conditions or other unforeseen emergencies, the above conditions may be reviewed and waived at the discretion of the university's competent authority.
