The Stargazers Club at DBS Global University is a vibrant community of astronomy enthusiasts who share a passion for exploring the mysteries of the cosmos. Led by students with a keen interest in space science and astrophotography, the club serves as a platform for fostering curiosity and expanding knowledge about the universe. From stargazing sessions and telescope handling workshops to discussions on the latest astronomical discoveries, the club aims to bring the wonders of the night sky closer to students and faculty alike.

Stargazers started the semester with a visit to Vigyan Dham for its clubs members. This dedicated Regional Science Museum field visit helped students to marvel on different aspects of science. Students explored the Himalaya Gallery, Innovation Hub, Frontiers of Technology Gallery, 3D Theatre, and the Planetarium show

The Stargazers Club organized a highly successful Supermoon Observation Event, attracting a large audience of students and faculty. Two advanced telescopes were set up, allowing attendees to witness the stunning supermoon in detail. In addition to the moon, Saturn and its majestic rings were also observed, adding to the excitement of the evening.

On the evening of January 24, 2025, nearly 100 students and faculty members gathered under a clear night sky to witness a rare planetary alignment, hosted by the Stargazers Club. The event provided a unique opportunity to observe Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn through telescopes, sparking enthusiasm for astronomy among attendees.
The event, co-patroned by Dr. Chandrashekhar Bhoj and patroned by Ms. Shweta Dhyani, offered participants close-up views of the celestial spectacle. Venus shone brightly, its crescent shape easily
visible. Mars revealed its distinctive reddish hue, while Jupiter captivated viewers with its cloud bands and the aligned Galilean moons. Saturn, with its iconic rings, drew gasps of wonder from the crowd.”Seeing Saturn’s rings with my own eyes was an incredible experience,” commented one attendee. “I’ve always been interested in space, and this event has definitely fueled that curiosity.”
The Stargazers Club encouraged interaction and feedback through a suggestion board, which quickly filled with ideas for future events.Suggestions ranged from hands-on telescope workshops and astrophotography sessions to live Q&A sessions with space scientists and stargazing camps during meteor showers.
“The feedback from the attendees has been invaluable,” As per Soham Mishra – Club President. “We’re excited to use their suggestions to plan even more engaging and educational events in the future.”The planetary alignment viewing was deemed a resounding success, fostering a deeper appreciation for astronomy within the university community. The Stargazers Club plans to host more observational sessions, workshops, and stargazing events, continuing to ignite a passion for science and exploration. The club expressed its gratitude to its patrons, faculty members, the dedicated Stargazers Club team, and all participants for making the event a memorable experience. The event highlighted the power of shared experiences in fostering a collective interest in the cosmos.
Ms. Shweta Dhyani, a dedicated patron of the Stargazers Club, has been an invaluable guide and mentor for the club’s activities. Ms. Shweta is a certified amature astronomer and has participated in Nasa and ISRO s civil campaigns for the last 8 years.
