Music Club

Introduction

The DBS Music Club is a vibrant community of singers, instrumentalists, producers, and music lovers who believe that campus life is incomplete without rhythm and melody.

We provide a platform where students from all courses can explore their musical talent, collaborate with like-minded artists, and gain confidence through live performances.

What Students Can Gain

Members of the Music Club gain:

  • Skill and creativity development: Members improve their musical skills (instrument, vocals, songwriting, stage presence) through practice, workshops, and jam sessions. They get chances to experiment with different genres, arrangements, and even basic music production, which boosts creativity and confidence.
  • Social and emotional benefits: Music clubs create a strong sense of community where members make friends who share similar interests and passions. Regular rehearsals and performances reduce stress, improve mood, and increase self?esteem and emotional expression.

Achievements

  • Successfully organized and hosted the college annual music night, attracting over 300 students and faculty members, and featuring 15+ student performances across genres.
  • Represented the college in inter?college music competitions and won awards, including “Best Band Performance” and “Best Vocalist,” boosting the club’s reputation.
  • Launched a monthly open?mic series that gave a platform to emerging artists, encouraging participation from both beginners and advanced performers.
  • Built a strong online presence by regularly posting original covers, live session videos, and reels, which helped grow the club’s Instagram.

As Event Coordinator, I was handling stage flow during Battle of Bands, making sure each performance transitioned smoothly without breaking the energy. It really sharpened my sense of timing and showed me how much the audience experience depends on what happens between the acts

As part of event support, I was involved in setting up and managing performances during jamming sessions and music nights, making sure everything ran smoothly on the ground. It pushed me to stay quick on my feet and be dependable, especially when multiple things needed attention at the same time.

As Content Manager, I was working on capturing performances and turning them into content that people would actually stop and watch. It pushed me to be more creative and think about how we present the club beyond just the events.

As Secretary, I was managing artist lineups and coordinating performances during Musical Night, especially when multiple acts had to be adjusted in real time. That’s when you realise how much planning goes behind a smooth show and how quickly things can shift if you are not on top of it

As Treasurer and part of event support, I was handling expense tracking while also helping manage things on ground during events. It helped me become more flexible, balancing numbers and execution at the same time.
